Spa Triangle

South of the Danube, in the gently rolling Rott valley between Passau and the hill country of Lower Bavaria, lies the Spa Triangle with the three thermal spas of Bad Füssing, Bad Griesbach and Bad Birnbach. Sulphurous, mineral-rich thermal water rises here from more than a thousand metres down — a healing spring discovered almost by chance during oil exploration in the 1930s and 1940s, and ever since the foundation of one of the most visited cure and wellness landscapes in Europe.

Each of the three spas has its own character: Bad Füssing is the classic, with sprawling thermal landscapes; Bad Griesbach draws visitors with golf resorts and a charming market square up on the hill; and Bad Birnbach leans into the idea of a 'feel-good village' with its barefoot-friendly thermal baths. What they share is the warm healing water, which in generous bathing and sauna worlds promises relief from ailments and deep relaxation.

Around the spas spreads a gentle landscape of fields, orchard meadows and small villages, threaded with well-built cycling and walking routes. The Spa Triangle belongs to the district of Passau and complements the lively City of Three Rivers with a realm of calm — ideal for anyone wishing to combine city experiences with recovery amid greenery.
